Hint: An object is said to be in motion when it is not at rest. An object is considered to be in motion, when it is continuously changing its position with respect to some steady and stationary reference point with respect to time. There are various types of motion.
Complete step by step answer:
Periodic Motion: The motion in which an object changes its position at a regular interval of time is known as the periodic motion. The motion of an object is repeated itself with the specific time interval. In other simple words, an object travels equal distance in equal intervals of time.
Example:
The motion of the pendulum in the clock– It’s to and fro motion (oscillatory) is repeated again and again.
The motion of the Earth around the Sun.– It is the circular motion, where the Earth takes 24 hours to complete one circle and this rotation is repeated. Equal distance is travelled in equal time.
Non -Periodic Motion:The motion in which an object changes its position at irregular intervals of time is known as the non-periodic motion. The motion of an object does not repeat itself with the specific time interval. In other simple words, an object travels does not travel an equal distance in equal intervals of time.
Example:
-The distance travelled by the vehicle or an application of the breaks in the moving vehicle varies from traffic and the congested roads.
-A ball rolling down from the inclined surface travels some distance, slows down and finally stops.
Note: The motion can also be described in the terms of the displacement, the distance, the velocity, acceleration, speed and the time. Remember an oscillatory motion is always the periodic motion whereas all the periodic motions are not always the oscillatory motion.
